Zion Suzuki and Andre Onana are both being linked with Manchester United.

There is increasing confidence that Man Utd will sign Andre Onana and they hope to sign a 20-year-old stand-in stopper for £5million. Also: Newcastle are shopping in Italy again…

UNITED EDGING TOWARDS ONANA DEAL
Having started their pre-season this week with no first-choice goalkeeper, Manchester United seem to be closing in on two new ones…

After their opening bid of £38.5million for Andre Onana was rejected by Inter Milan, the Red Devils have gone back with an improved offer. United have now put £42.7million on Inter’s table; the Italians want £51.3million for the Cameroon keeper. But there is optimism a compromise can be found between the two, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that personal terms between United and Onana are already agreed.

With David De Gea unlikely to return should Onana sign, and Dean Henderson likely heading to Nottingham Forest for around £30million, Erik ten Hag needs another keeper a report suggests he’s found one in Japan.

According to Sponichi, United have made a £5million offer to Urawa Red Diamonds for Zion Suzuki. The 20-year-old, who was born in the United States, has already made his international debut for Japan and is being eyed by a number of Premier League clubs.

BRIGHTON WANT RICE MONEY FOR CHELSEA TARGET
Declan Rice is poised to undergo his medical at Arsenal this weekend – let’s assume he’ll pass unlike these five – before completing a £105million move from West Ham.

Being the observant sort, Brighton have noticed the heft of the fee the Gunners are paying for the midfielder, which is bad news for Chelsea.

According to The Telegraph, the Seagulls will insist on a similar nine-figure sum if they are to part with Moises Caicedo. Especially since Chelsea have already paid a similar amount this year for Enzo Fernandez.

So Chelsea could turn instead to Romeo Lavia, who is expected to be attainable for half the price of Rice and Caicedo. But Sky Sports says the clamour for the 19-year-old midfielder means Southampton feel very confident of raking in at least £50million, with Liverpool and Arsenal also sniffing.

NEWCASTLE CONSIDER BONUCCI BID
With Sandro Tonali now in Toon, Newcastle could return to Italy in their effort to bolster their squad with Champions League experience.

According to Calciomercato, the Magpies have held talks with Leonardo Bonucci. His Juventus contract has one year left to run and the 36-year-old is said to be open to one last adventure, but Saudi or the MLS does not appeal.

Discussions are said to be at early stages and there is plenty to be done before Newcastle submit an offer to the Old Lady for the nine-time Serie A winner.
