Man Utd apparently followed Ralf Rangnick’s advice to make an enquiry over a Napoli striker. They didn’t like the response…
UNITED PRICED OUT OF OSIMHEN MOVE
Manchester United’s profligacy and their over-reliance on 86-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo means a centre-forward is among the priorities for the Red Devils in the coming transfer windows.
It seems unlikely, though, that they will be signing Victor Osimhen. Apparently, Ralf Rangnick was keen for United to explore a deal for the Nigeria striker, who has 11 goals in 22 appearances for Napoli this season.
But the Daily Star says the Italian club have priced Osimhen out of contention for the Red Devils. The 23-year-old joined Napoli from Lille in 2020 for a club record fee that initially cost £45million but could rise to something like £70million.
So, with Napoli keen to make a hefty profit, it is claimed United have been quoted around £100million for Osimhen, which they have no intention of paying.
RED DEVILS EYE THIRD LEIPZIG TARGET
Rangnick is also said to have recommended another of his former players to the Old Trafford hierarchy…
The interim manager has already suggested that United approach RB Leipzig over Christopher Nkunku and Amadou Haidara, and now Nordi Mukiele could be in line for a reunion with Rangnick.
Mukiele is a right-sided defender, able to play at full-back or centre-back, who has featured in 21 games for the German club this season.
The 24-year-old arrived in Leipzig from Montpellier for £13.3million in 2018 and Fichajes says United are looking to offer him the next step.
REAL WAIT FOR MBAPPE AS PSG MAKE FINAL PLAY
Like United, Real Madrid are also on the hunt for strikers this summer. And they want one above all others…
It was thought that a deal to sign Kylian Mbappe as a free agent was already in place, but doubts have arisen of late, with Liverpool still said to be sniffing and PSG refusing to give up on convincing the France star to renew.
Goal says Real want a move for Mbappe sewn up before the consider moving for other targets, with Erling Haaland said to be on their list.
But Marca reckons it might not be as simple as Real hoped, with PSG turning the screw on Mbappe to sign a new deal. The Parisians are trying hard to woo the forward, with the club’s fans also pleading with him to stay, which appears as likely now as it has at any point over the last year.
GALAXY PLOT RAMOS MOVE
Not that they really need it, but PSG could free up some space for Mbappe’s deal in their budget by sending Sergio Ramos to MLS.
Ramos has barely featured for the French side since moving from Real last summer as a free agent, with the defender making only five appearances in all competitions while trousering around £240,000 a week.
His fitness problems don’t appear to have put off LA Galaxy, with Footmercato reporting that the MLS franchise are exploring the possibility of another free transfer to take him to the West Coast.
