Gossip: Liverpool, City to rival Man Utd for Raphael Varane

Ian Watson

We have whispers surrounding Premier League interest in Ozan Kabak, while Ruben Neves could be a bargain…

PREM TRIO EYE VARANE
Gary Neville identified Raphael Varane as one of three signings who would deliver the title to Manchester United, but it seems the Red Devils have company in the race for the centre-back.

Varane is expected to leave Real Madrid this summer as he enters the final year of his contract. United have been linked with the France star since before he moved to Spain from Lens in 2010.

This summer appears to represent their best chance of landing the 28-year-old but Sport reckons Liverpool and Manchester City are also interested.

Which seems like a speculative punt. Liverpool are all set to sign Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig, while City look well stacked for centre-backs.

FOXES TO MOVE FOR LIVERPOOL LOANEE
With Konate seemingly on his way, Liverpool are looking to shed centre-backs…

The Reds have the option of making Ozan Kabak’s loan a permanent move this summer, but it would appear that Jurgen Klopp has chosen not to spend £18million on the Turkey defender.

But Leicester are willing to cough up for Kabak, according to The Mirror. While Leipzig could also take the Schalke stopper as they look to replace Konate.

WOLVES STAR UP FOR GRABS
Liverpool and United might both be interested to hear of Wolves’ willingness to sell Ruben Neves.

According to The Athletic, the Portugal midfielder is available for £35million amid a summer of transition at Molineux.

Liverpool are in the market for a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum – they have been linked with Leicester’s Youri Tielemans –  while United badly need to strengthen their engine room options.

DORTMUND EYE DOUBLE DEAL WITH CHELSEA
There were whispers on Wednesday that Borussia Dortmund want to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi. Now the Germans are being linked with his mate too.

Chelsea want rid of Tammy Abraham this summer and 90min says Dortmund have joined the queue of Premier League clubs eyeing the centre-forward.

West Ham, Brighton, Southampton and Crystal Palace are all keen on Abraham though Dortmund may have the same problem with the 23-year-old’s wages as that Premier League quartet.

Abraham is expected to fetch £40million while Hudson-Odoi may be allowed to leave on a long-term loan owing to his huge salary.
