JUVE FLOAT RONALDO-POGBA SWAP DEAL
Two huge deals that have been Gossip column favourites for years could happen simultaneously this summer…
Gazzetta dello Sport reckons Juve are keen to offer Ronaldo to United in exchange for Paul Pogba. Which could be tempting for the Red Devils. It’s been five years and still they haven’t fathomed out how best to use their record signing.
Presumably it would be a part-exchange transaction, with Ronaldo returning to Old Trafford with a few euros to hand over to the Glazers. Both players are a year from the end of their contracts, with Juve seemingly more intent to shift Ronaldo, who is eight years older than Pogba. Who, in theory, should be in his prime.
Ronaldo would have to accept a considerably lower wage at Old Trafford compared to the £500,000 a week he currently earns in Turin. But PSG could get closer to his current terms. Apparently, the Parisians see the 36-year-old as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappe if the France star moves on this summer.
JESUS TO SAVE CITY £70M IN KANE DEAL
Arsenal were yesterday linked with Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling, while this morning, it is claimed Gabriel Jesus could be heading to north London too.
The Daily Star Sunday claims Manchester City could offer Jesus to Spurs as a makeweight in a deal for Harry Kane.
Jesus is valued at £70million, with City apparently prepared to send the Brazilian to White Hart Lane with the same amount in cash.
Nathan Ake’s name also comes up as a possible option for City to reduce their cash outlay as they bid to sign Kane.
They could have done with him last night. And a holding midfielder.
CITY SET TO BUY BACK BRAZIL MIDFIELDER
That was weird from Pep. In 59 of the 60 games this season prior to last night, he has played with either Rodri or Fernandinho. You knew the City boss wouldn’t sleep between his side’s Premier League defeat to Chelsea and the Champions League final as he plotted to get the better of Thomas Tuchel but we expected something more cunning than that.
Pep may be making plans to recruit another midfielder this summer. With Fernandinho set to leave City, it leaves a hole in the champions’ squad which could be filled by an old boy.
90min reckons City are considering exercising their option to re-sign Douglas Luiz for £25million. Luiz joined Villa for £15million in 2019 but City included a buy-back clause in the deal and Villa are worried Guardiola will come back for the 23-year-old.
Atletico Madrid are also said to be interested in the Brazil international but City have first refusal. Should they bring Luiz back, they could likely sell him on for an immediate profit, while Villa are said to be on the look out for replacements.
