Marco Asensio Real Madrid

Liverpool are again being linked with Marco Asensio, while Arsenal are sniffing around a Zenit goalscorer…

GERRARD AND LAMPARD IN FRAME FOR TOON
Good morning to the influx of Gossip seekers from the North East. It’s been a while…

Sadly, there aren’t many Newcastle-themed rumours doing the rounds just yet while PIF get their feet under the table at St James’ Park. Steve Bruce has done an interview with the Daily Telegraph admitting that he expects to lose his job, but links with new managers so far are few and far between. The same paper has mentioned Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard as possible replacements, but it’s a speculative punt at best.

Check back tomorrow when doubtless the bullsh*t will be fresh and steaming once everyone has had 24 hours to process the fact that Newcastle are now the richest club in the world.

F365 Says: Saudi takeover washes away Newcastle sentiment

LIVERPOOL RENEW ASENSIO INTEREST
Liverpool are being linked again with Marco Asensio…

Back in 2018, the Real Madrid attacker was said to be the subject of a huge bid from Liverpool, since when his career has somewhat stalled due to injury.

According to ABC, Asensio has been deemed surplus to requirements by Carlo Ancelotti and he is again ‘pondering’ his future at the Bernabeu amid renewed interest from Jurgen Klopp.

The 25-year-old has three goals in seven La Liga appearances this season, though only twice has he started and those goals all came in the same game against Mallorca. Immediately after which he was back on the bench as an unused substitute when Real were stunned by Sheriff.

Six realistic transfer targets for Saudi-owned Newcastle…

ARSENAL EYE IRANIAN MESSI
Arsenal expect to lose Alexandre Lacazette before next summer when the France forward’s contract expires.

Already this week, the Gunners have been linked with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Ollie Watkins and Noa Lang as potential replacements, and today there is another name in picture.

Apparently, Arsenal are looking at Zenit striker Sardar Azmoun. That’s the claim from Onze Mundial, at least.

Azmoun scored 19 goals in 24 matches when Zenit won the title last season. The 26-year-old was first mentioned as a possible target last year, while Arsenal face plenty of competition, with Lyon, Roma, Bayer Leverkusen and Tottenham all said to have registered an interest during the summer.

CITY TO ASK FOR STERLING EXCHANGE
We had Raheem Sterling down as one of six realistic targets for Newcastle’s new owners but, apparently, Manchester City remain intent on keeping the England attacker.

The Sun reckons City want to reopen contract talks with Sterling having previously failed to find common ground over a renewal.

Barcelona are still keen on Sterling, though, and El Nacional reckons City will ask for Ousmane Dembele in part-exchange should the Catalans make a move. Demebele, though is out of contract next summer, two years before Sterling’s terms expire, so Barca would doubtless have to make up a considerable shortfall.
