ARSENAL EDGE CLOSER TO LYON STAR
As we enter the final few days of the transfer window, Arsenal are waiting for the pieces to fall into place for them to make another offer for Houssem Aouar.
The Gunners have been trying to clear some space in their squad for the Lyon midfielder by shifting Lucas Torreira and the Uruguay star is closing in on a move to Atletico Madrid. AS says a loan deal is close, even though Arsenal would prefer to sell for £21.5million, but Atletico too have to create room for their new arrival by getting rid of Hector Herrera.
Arsenal need to get a wriggle on with Aouar, though. Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas says ‘there will be no departures’ after Friday evening although before then “we could see ourselves lose two players”.
If that isn’t enough to prompt Arsenal to improve their most recent bid of £32million for Aouar, then PSG’s interest might do it. L’Equipe reckons the Parisians might be more willing to give Lyon something closer to the £46million they’ve been asking for all summer.
PSG’S DELE DEAL IN DOUBT
News of PSG’s interest in Aouar comes as it emerges that they have cooled their jets over Dele Alli.
The Guardian says the Ligue 1 champions will move on after Tottenham rejected their offer of £1.5million to borrow the England attacker. But The Telegraph isn’t convinced the deal is dead and they suggest PSG will make ‘one last push’.
LOAN INTEREST IN CHELSEA TRIO
Spurs are dabbling in the loan market themselves and it seems they’ve agreed a deal with Benfica to take Carlos Vinicius. The Guardian says Spurs will pay a £2.7million loan fee and Jose Mourinho will have the option to buy for £40.4million.
Mourinho is also looking for a centre-back and reports in Italy suggest Spurs have made an offer to Chelsea to take Antonio Rudiger but the Blues would prefer to buy.
According to Sky Sports, Chelsea are also fielding interest from Inter Milan, who want to take Marcos Alonso off Frank Lampard’s hands.
And Bayern Munich is sniffing around Callum Hudson-Odoi again. The Germans wanted to sign the winger permanently last summer but Chelsea resisted their offers. But Bild says Bayern’s interest in Hudson-Odoi ‘is suddenly hot again’.
