Gossip: Tottenham target €120m double swoop as Conte’s first signings

Tottenham have been linked with two expensive deals as they plan for the next two transfer windows…
CONTE WANTS MOURINHO’S MAN
Tottenham boss Antonio Conte is keen for the Premier League club to bring Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo to north London, according to reports in Italy.
Liverpool were seen as the favourites to sign him at one stage in the summer of 2020, with Jurgen Klopp looking to add to his midfield options. However their interest cooled, with the Reds turning their attention to Thiago Alcantara.
Former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho, who is now managing Zaniolo at Roma, was understood to be keen for Tottenham to pursue a deal in 2020 too – but a €50m bid never officially materialised.
And now Conte is ready to reinvigorate Spurs’ interest in his compatriot – who was sidelined last season with a knee injury – with Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness) claiming that the Tottenham boss ‘really likes’ the Roma midfielder. Conte would ‘really like him’ in north London with the report adding that ‘the call of the Premier League may be strong again in the summer, as it was before the double injury’.
The Italian newspaper adds that Roma’s owners see Zaniolo as key to their future plans with the midfielder ‘non-transferable’. But Gazzetta dello Sport reckon the Serie A giants would accept a bid of around €70m for the Italy international.
TOTTENHAM TEMPT DEMBELE
Tottenham want to bring Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele to the Premier League to boost Conte’s options, according to reports in Spain.
The France international is out of contract at the end of this season and has been consistently linked with a move to the Premier League over the past couple of years. Barcelona spent £89m plus add-ons to sign Dembele in 2017 but the move has not gone to plan with the 24-year-old struggling with injuries.
His injury issues put off Man Utd in the summer market with the Old Trafford giants ready to meet Barca’s €50m asking price. But now Tottenham could attempt to bring him to the Premier League with Mundo Deportivo claiming that Spurs have approached Dembele with ‘a lot of money’ and promises to be ‘a key piece’ in their ‘future project’.
Spurs’ managing director of football Fabio Paratici has ‘tempted him’ previously during his time at Juventus with Paratici aiming ‘to give Antonio Conte quality players’ as they look to ‘compete for the titles’. Dembele ‘would like to continue at Barca’ and renew his contract but his agent ‘is more predisposed to an exit, for his player to earn a good transfer bonus’.
