Gossip: Werner chooses Liverpool, £100m Man United issue

It seems Timo Werner has chosen Liverpool, while there is a slight problem with Jadon Sancho to Man United…

SANCHO ‘STUMBLING BLOCK’
You have to get to the eighth paragraph of the Daily Mirror’s story about how Manchester United are offering Jadon Sancho the club’s coveted No. 7 shirt, how United have ‘stolen a march’ on their rivals and how Marcus Rashford rates him as a “new generation of player” before we reach this piece of apparently unimportant information:

‘A key stumbling block in negotiations could be the transfer fee, as Dortmund are hopeful of raking in excess of £100million.’

So the ‘stumbling block’ in this excellent plan ‘could’ be that Dortmund won’t just sell for the price that Manchester United want to pay. Spoilsports.

WERNER CHOOSES LIVERPOOL
This has long been suggested but now German newspaper Bild are reporting categorically that Timo Werner wants to join Liverpool when the transfer window opens again, turning down the chance to be Robert Lewandowski’s long-term successor at Bayern Munich.

Werner has scored a remarkable 21 Bundesliga goals this season but is reported to have a release clause of just £51m in his contract, which might well make him the bargain of the summer.
