MAN UTD COULD WAIT A YEAR FOR SANCHO
On top of the horrendous death toll and widespread devastation, we learn this morning that coronavirus could lead to the saga surrounding Jadon Sancho and Manchester United being dragged out for a further 12 months.

The Mirror are among a number of outlets reporting that United could hold fire this summer, not because they cannot afford the £100million-plus transfer fee that Borussia Dortmund would demand for selling the England winger, but due to their concerns over how a splurge of that magnitude would be ‘viewed by society’.

United have been praised for how they have conducted themselves during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially at a local level. But let’s be honest, we all know they are good for the money and would anyone really object to them spending it on Sancho?

RED DEVILS EYE CHEAPER ALTERNATIVE
Talk of United’s reluctance to deal in record-breaking figures comes just as links with Hirving Lozano are re-emerging.

The Mexico winger has struggled since becoming Napoli’s record signing last summer and Corriere dello Sport suggests the Red Devils could give the Serie A club their money back.

Apparently, a £38.5million move appeals to United given Lozano’s marketability in Mexico and the fact he would cost a third of the fee they would have to pay for Sancho.

NAGELSMANN ON NEWCASTLE SHORTLIST
Newcastle certainly don’t seem to be worried about appearances if their proposed takeover goes through. Should the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund get their hands on the Magpies, they fully intend to make it rain at St James’ Park

Le10 Sport claims Mauricio Pochettino is edging closer to the Toon hot seat (yes please) but Guillem Balague reckons the ex-Spurs boss is just one name on their hit list.

Apparently, Rafael Benitez and Max Allegri are also joined by RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann in the Saudis’ thinking.

Nagelsmann would be the toughest target to recruit given he’s perfectly happy where he is, but the Saudis are not used to being told ‘no’.

TOON TARGET £70m KOULIBALY
Whoever replaces poor Steve Bruce, they could have Kalidou Koulibaly to build their defence around.

Sky Sports says Newcastle are sniffing around the defender who seems set to leave Napoli this summer. The Serie A club are looking for around £70million for the centre-back, which Newcastle’s prospective new owners would gladly pay.

The talk too is that Koulibaly would be interested in listening to what the Magpies have to say.

Is this the perfect summer for nouveau riche Newcastle?
