Thomas Tuchel insisted that Chelsea “controlled it completely” against Everton as they won 2-0 to keep his unbeaten record as boss intact.

The Blues were dominant at Stamford Bridge as Carlo Ancelotti’s side only managed one shot on target over the course of the 90 minutes.

Chelsea deservedly took the lead just past the half-hour mark. Kai Havertz shot towards goal and his effort was deflected into the net by Ben Godfrey.

Havertz continued to impress in the second half. He was brought down by Jordan Pickford to earn his side a penalty. Jorginho stepped up to take it and he doubled his side’s lead in the 65th minute.

Tuchel’s men remained two-goals ahead by the end of the 90 minutes as they cruised to all three points.

This is his eighth victory from his eleven games in charge. He is yet to lose as manager as his other three games finished as draws.

Chelsea cemented their position in the top four with this victory as they are four points ahead of the Toffees. If West Ham beat Leeds on Monday night, they will close the gap on their London rivals to two points.

Speaking with BT Sport, as cited by BBC Sport, Tuchel said he was “very pleased” for Havertz after his stellar display against Ancelotti’s side:

“We deserved to win. It was a very difficult first half but we controlled it completely. Second half we increased our level and had a lot of dangerous attacks.

“Very pleased with Kai. It was the trust we gave him and used the trust we gave him. He is a player who has all the ability to be a dominant figure in the offence and he stepped up.

“You see the quality of the players and the club. It is a pleasure to be on the sideline and work with the team. Everybody in the club is doing everything to compete at this level.”
