Two Premier League clubs join the race to sign £19m Man Utd star who is in high demand
Two more Premier League clubs have joined the race to sign Manchester United winger Amad Diallo following a successful loan spell last season.
The 20-year-old winger is one of the most in-demand players right now among Championship and newly promoted clubs.
Diallo shined while on loan with Sunderland last season, scoring 14 goals and providing three assists.
He looked a cut above the competition in the Championship and another loan move could be on the cards this summer.
It recently came to light that Southampton were interested in taking Diallo on loan for the season, but they now face Premier League competition.
According to Football Insider, newly promoted Burnley and Sheffield United are both interested in signing Diallo on loan.
For Diallo to take his game to the next level, a loan move to the Premier League would tick a lot of boxes.
He would be able to showcase his talent at a higher level and prove himself against Premier League defenders.
Given Burnley’s fluid playstyle under Vincent Kompany, a loan move to Turf Moor could be great for his development.
In the Championship, Burnley played a dynamic 4-2-3-1 system, with their wingers being involved in the majority of their goals.
Along with Burnley and Sheffield United, West Ham and Sunderland are also monitoring the 20-year-old.
Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray has stated his desire to bring Diallo back next season, although he admits it is unlikely.
“If they feel he is someone who could genuinely play in their first team somewhere down the line, they need to keep him on board but I would suggest they will try another level,” Mowbray told reporters at the end of the season.
“You would think he would go to a Premier League club or maybe back to Italy and play in Serie A, or Spain or wherever it might be.
“My gut feeling with Amad is that if he doesn’t stay at Manchester United, he will go for big money to a top Spanish team, I think.”
Diallo joined United in 2021 for an initial fee of £19m. He is contracted with the club until 2025, with the option of a further year.
