Roy Keane reckons Manchester United will finish in the top four above Arsenal after the Red Devils’ win against Mikel Arteta’s side.

It is fair to say Erik ten Hag’s men were not absolutely convincing in their victory on Sunday, however, they took their chances and punished their opponents.

Marcus Rashford scored a brace, with Antony also on target on his debut for the club.

Arsenal played some very tidy football and will feel hard done by to have left with nothing, especially after having a goal disallowed early on after VAR intervened and told referee Paul Tierney to go to the pitchside monitor to review a potential foul by Martin Odegaard.

The 3-1 defeat at Old Trafford was the first time Arteta’s side have dropped points this season, though they are still top of the table with 15 points from six games.

Unsurprisingly, the result has sparked lots of conversation about the race to finish inside the Champions League places.

While Manchester City are already pretty much a shoo-in to lift the Premier League title, the rest of the top four is hard to predict.

Pundits and fans chop and change their opinions for fun and Arsenal were obviously written off after their poor result at Old Trafford.

After the game, Sky Sports host Dave Jones asked his punditry team who will finish higher out of United and Arsenal.

Former Red Devils captain Roy Keane replied: “United. I think United will search for the top four. I think they’ve got a settled group now. New manager settling in. United for me.”

His former United teammate Gary Neville does not share Keane’s confidence, however.

“I think City, Liverpool and Tottenham will finish in the top three,” Neville said.

“I think Chelsea, Arsenal and Man United… it’s a big battle. I think United will struggle to get into the top four, personally.”

Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink also chimed in and the ex-Chelsea striker predicted Tottenham to finish outside the top four.

“I think United will,” he added. “They’ll find a way of playing. They can’t keep on playing the whole season like this. They need to improve.

“But I think they will get above Arsenal. I think Chelsea will be in the top four… with Man United, Manchester City, Liverpool. Tottenham don’t.”

Finally, former Gunners midfielder Paul Merson said his piece.

“I think Arsenal are there for the long run,” he began.

“At United there are a lot of big players not playing at the moment and that’s going to go on as the season goes on.

“This manager has got a lot of looking after people and he’s got to keep a lot of players happy. It’s going to be a hard job.

“But when I listen to him talking there, if I’m being honest, I’m thinking I want to play for you. He talks well and he’s got a plan.

“If Casemiro doesn’t get in the team and (Cristiano) Ronaldo doesn’t get in the team, it’s going to be hard as the season goes on. And (Harry) Maguire is out of the team.”

Pressed to make a prediction on who finishes higher out of United and Arsenal, Merson did opt for the latter, though he said it relies on Gabriel Jesus’ ability to score goals this term.
