Van Gaal: Sheff Utd didn’t create chances either

No they didn’t, Louis van Gaal. They were also a League One team playing at Old Trafford.

Van Gaal was speaking after Manchester United edged past Sheffield United 1-0 in the FA Cup.

United were again dismal, failing to have a shot on target until the second half against Nigel Adkins’ team.

Van Gaal admitted that it hadn’t been a good performance, but defended his side by saying that Sheffield United also hadn’t attacked. Way to damn your side with faint praise.

“I can understand why the manager of Sheffield United choose this kind of tactics, but they didn’t have any chances, we have kept another clean sheet and we deserved to win,” Van Gaal said.

“Okay it’s not good today. We did not move the ball quickly today,” Van Gaal continued.

“But we have won and that is the most important thing in the FA Cup – we have to be in the next round and we are there.”

It does feel like this is going to come to a head soon; watching United play is not an enjoyable pastime.
