Jamie Vardy has explained why he turned down interest from Arsenal to remain with Leicester this summer.

Vardy was the subject of a bid from the Gunners earlier this summer, before the forward traveled with England to Euro 2016.

The 29-year-old, whose goals inspired Leicester to a remarkable Premier League title win in 2015/16, rebuffed the interest in order to sign a new deal at the King Power Stadium.

Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ, the striker has revealed his motives behind staying.

“It’s not been put out there that I have always said the boys, the close-knit brotherhood, is unbelievable and for me, there’s a lot of unfinished business here,” he said.

“I feel that the club is only going one way and that is forward, that’s why I want to be a part of it.

“It wasn’t that big [the decision] when I think about it. It was quite easy and this is where I want to be.”

Vardy then discussed Arsenal’s reported interest in Riyad Mahrez.

“I think everyone in the squad would want him here, playing with us, but that’s nothing to do with us and it’s down to Riyad and the club to sort out,” Vardy added.
