Arsenal target Lille's Sanches

Arsenal are “very interested” in signing Lille midfielder Renato Sanches and they may “go on the attack” to sign him in the “coming week”, according to reports.

The Portugal international previously played in the Premier League in 2017/18 with Swansea City. He had an unsuccessful loan spell with the Swans from Bayern Munich.

Sanches left the German giants in 2019 and he has been able to rebuild his career in France with Lille.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked with the midfielder in recent months. He was reportedly rated at around £35m by Lille during the summer.

French outlet Le10 Sport (as cited by Sport Witness) are reporting that Arsenal are still “very interested” in signing Sanches.

The report adds that they are yet to make an official offer for him. But Arsenal may “go on the attack” for him “in the coming week”.

Elsewhere, Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has said that earning his first England cap was “one of his proudest days”:

“I’m delighted for those [Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka]. Obviously Emile has two caps now, his first start and first goal and Bukayo scored as well.

“A night I have been dreaming of for a long time. It doesn’t matter who we played or what the score was, it was a special day for myself and my family.

“Over the next few days I think I will properly digest it. Look back on one of the proudest days of my life.

“It has been my goal every time there’s been games coming up, so of course as you get that first taste you want even more but between now and Qatar there is a lot of football to be played – especially at club level and other internationals, so as long as I continue my form with Arsenal then I’m sure I can put something in the manager’s mind.

“At the end when the boss spoke to me, he just put his arm around me and said ‘this isn’t a throwaway game, we still weren’t qualified and we needed to obviously secure a point to go to Qatar, it is not just a chance for you to play and tick it off’.

“What I did in the game I did well, the save and a corner to come and claim so it was nice for him to say that to me, not to reassure me but just that it wasn’t a chance for me to do it because of the opposition we were playing.”
