Manchester City star Bernardo Silva has said he does not want to be involved in any part-exchange deal for Tottenham Hotspur talisman Harry Kane, according to reports.

The Premier League champions are desperate to land Kane before the transfer window closes, but his £150million asking price is a potential stumbling block for the Citizens.

Man City have already smashed the British transfer record this summer in signing Jack Grealish from Aston Villa, and will need to do it again if they want to sign the England captain.

Will Japhet Tanganga be a Harry Winks or Harry Kane?

Earlier this summer, City offered five players to Tottenham in a potential swap deal – but this was rejected by club chairman Daniel Levy.

Bernardo was included in the initial talks but Levy is holding out for cash only.

The ex-Monaco man’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has been in Manchester this week to try and find a solution for his future.

The 27-year-old is allowed to leave City this summer if they receive an adequate offer for the versatile winger.

Furthermore, his manager Pep Guardiola said earlier this month that Silva wants to leave City.

When asked about the Portugal international leaving the club this summer, Guardiola said: “Not just Bernardo, there are two, three, four players who want to leave but they are our players under contract and when they bring some offers and want to leave, we are open to discuss for absolutely everything with all the players in the squad.”

An unlikely destination for Silva is Spurs, as The Athletic have said he has made it known he does not want a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The report also suggests that he would prefer a move to Spain.

The Times reported on Thursday that the signing of Kane is dependent on the sales of Bernardo and Aymeric Laporte, which doesn’t bode well for City in their pursuit of the striker.

It was reported by Portuguese journalist Felipe Dias last week that the player ‘rejected’ a move to Arsenal.

Dias told Transfer Talk: “The information we have is that Bernardo has made it pretty clear that this is the right time for him to leave.

“The latest we heard is that Bernardo has rejected a move to Arsenal and if that is the case I think rightly so because I don’t think that would be a step forward in his career.”
