Arsene Wenger has praised Tottenham striker Harry Kane for his goalscoring exploits.
Kane broke Alan Shearer’s record for goals in a calendar year with his hat-trick against Southampton on Boxing Day.
Tottenham were named our early winners for that win but it is Kane who constantly steals the headlines, and Wenger is impressed.
“He has done it and would I have predicted it? I would modestly say no,” Wenger said.
“What he has done is beat people like Messi and Ronaldo, who are unbeatable in my head, so what he has done is absolutely fantastic.”
Asked whether Kane’s achievements were all the more impressive because there are more difficult games in the Premier League, Wenger replied: “Yes there are. That is why I say that what he has achieved is absolutely amazing.”
