Arsene Wenger has likened Arsenal’s confidence crisis to being “naked completely” and looking for a shirt.
Arsenal lost their fourth match in a row as they succumbed to Brighton on Sunday.
We have compiled a list of the most ridiculous statistics from their failed season, which has them sixth in the Premier League table and 13 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham.
Wenger sought to explain the plight his players are facing with a rather strange analogy on Sunday.
“It’s difficult at the moment for me to get into any negative assessment,” Wenger said. “The team needs more support at the moment. Tough, objective judgement as well. but when you struggle for confidence it’s difficult.
“When you have just the trousers on it’s easy to take them trousers off as well. When you’re naked completely you have to find a shirt and try to put it on again and then you’re dressed normally again.
“The environment around the team is always to put them more down.”
