West Ham United are considering a move for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay as David Moyes eyes a replacement for Declan Rice.

Rice finalised his £105m switch to Arsenal on Sunday and now Moyes is charged with putting those funds to good use this summer.

The manager reportedly has McTominay on his radar, who Man Utd are open to selling for the right price.

The Scotsman put in some good performances for the Red Devils last season but has found consistent minutes hard to come by after the arrivals of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen.

McTominay could now see his game time diminish even further now that Mason Mount has left Chelsea to join Man Utd.

With that in mind, a departure may be the best thing for the 26-year-old. Several Premier League clubs have registered an interest in signing him.

For instance, Brighton and Everton are thought to be admirers of the midfielder. Now though, it seems West Ham could make a move for him in the near future.

That is according to Sky Sportswho claim the Hammers ‘are interested’ in signing McTominay this summer.

The report states that while Man Utd are open to selling the Scotsman, the final decision over his future will be made by the player – who has two years remaining on his current contract. No bid has been made by West Ham yet.

Since breaking into the Red Devil’s first team in 2016, McTominay has made 209 appearances across all competitions. In the process, he has scored 19 goals and made five assists.

As mentioned, though, the midfielder saw his playing time diminish last season. He made just 11 starts in the Premier League.

Replacing Rice at West Ham would be a challenging task for any player. Moyes clearly thinks that McTominay is capable of doing so, though. It will be interesting to see if the London club make a bid for his services this summer.

It’s worth mentioning that he isn’t the only midfielder on the Hammer’s radar, however. One other potential option is Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse, who is keen on joining a Premier League club this summer.

The 28-year-old is considered to be one of the best set piece takers in England. Last season, he managed to chip in with nine Premier League goals but was unable to prevent the Saints from being relegated.

Fulham are also interested in Ward-Prowse, though, so West Ham face competition for his signature.

With that in mind, it will be interesting to see if the Hammers table a concrete offer for either player over the next couple of weeks.
