West Ham have reportedly submitted a £17 million bid for Brentford and Algeria winger Said Benrahma.

The Hammers are one of several Premier League clubs to be interested in the player after his side failed to gain promotion from the Championship.

Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle and Aston Villa were all rumoured to be monitoring the 25-year-old’s situation during the recent transfer window.

However, West Ham have started proceedings after launching a £17 million bid plus add-ons, according to 90Min.

The Bees are yet to respond to the London club’s offer, although a response is expected in the coming days.

Brentford value the playmaker at around £25 million, meaning David Moyes’ side may have to come back with an improved offer.

A bidding war could start if one of the other interested clubs decides to get involved. Back in August, Arsenal were reportedly planning a combined offer for Benrahma and his teammate David Raya.

Their previous interest could see them make an official bid to improve Mikel Arteta’s attacking options.

Villa were also thought to be in the hunt for the Algerian, as rumours emerged that they were willing to spend £100 million on improving their squad.

Benrahma’s impressive form in the Championship last season earned him lots of admirers across England. The player scored 17 goals and assisted a further nine in 46 league appearances, while also forming a deadly partnership with new Villa striker Ollie Watkins.

Benrahma started this season brightly, too. He scored two goals in a brilliant display against Fulham as Brentford went through in the Carabao Cup.

Following the international break, the Bees’ next fixture is in the league against Coventry at home. Their fans will be hoping they can bounce back from their loss to Preston last week and begin their push for promotion once again.

Meanwhile, the Hammers’ next game is away against Spurs on Sunday 18th October.
