Who has the best fans in the championship?

The Championship is an extremely passionate division, with a phenomenal chance to climb up to the upper division of English football and play in the prestigious Premier League. The Championship has proven that it contains some absolutely passionate fans and they make sure they can be heard throughout all matches as they travel up and down the country in their numbers. You always hear from fans saying ‘we would have packed the stadium out’ or ‘we’re the bigger club’ but after years of debating, you’ll find it difficult to put a finger on who really are the best fans in the EFL Championship, in this list you’ll discover who are the most loudest, scariest and passionate fans in the Championship:

Birmingham
The Brummies’ faithful have experienced it all in the last few years, from winning the League Cup against the Arsenal thanks to an Obafemi Martins last-minute strike, to then relegation into the EFL and a las- minute equaliser from Paul Caddis again Bolton to avoid relegation to League One in 2014. Any fans across the league would agree that St. Andrews is a fantastic, loud and intimidating place to visit especially with the power rendition of ‘Keep Right On’ truly makes those hairs stand up on your body. What’s also so good about the fans, they will follow their team up and down the country in their numbers striking fear in a number of different fans.

Aston Villa
Onto Birmingham’s bitter neighbours – Aston Villa.  It’s been a horrible few season for the Villains and last term was a torrid one to say the least, which saw the club being relegated to the second tier. Despite all these setbacks, one thing is certain; the Villa fans’ passion and desire for the club. The noise they make is incredible and the stadium is usually packed to the rafters showing their support in Villa Park.

Sheffield Wednesday
Now this is an intimidating place to go. The stadium is always a colossal wall of blue and white with the fans creating a stunning and engaging atmosphere and despite their failed attempt in getting promoted to the Premier League last season, the fans still keep on roaring and the team are backed by thousands of Wednesday fans week in and week out across the country.

Leeds United
For a club who’s been plagued with financial unrest and mid-table mediocrity for the last few years, shadowing their glory days in the Premier League hasn’t stopped the massive support for this club. Elland Road always produces a boisterous atmosphere and there is no doubt with this amazing support, Garry Monk will lead them back to the big time.

Newcastle United
Despite this ‘big’ club being relegated into the second tier of English football, as expected, the Geordies have taken the league by storm. With a stadium holding 50,000 a week, which is also a Championship record and shows how big the support is in this stadium.
