Willian is ‘upset and offended’ by Chelsea as he looks set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, according to reports.

The Brazilian has still not agreed new terms with Chelsea, despite having been offered a two-year extension to his expiring contract, and now reports claim that he is on the verge of a move to Arsenal.

Sky Sports claimed earlier today that Arsenal are ‘close to completing the signing of midfielder Willian from Chelsea on a three-year deal’.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has been clear all season that he wants to keep Willian in west London, with the highly-regarded winger notching nine goals and laying on seven assists in this term’s Premier League.

But the former Shakhtar Donetsk forward has been holding out for a three-year contract, with Chelsea only having offered two-year terms.

Willian signed a short-term contract extension to cover the close of a campaign disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic, but that deal will expire after Chelsea’s Champions League exploits.

And now sources have told ESPN that Willian is ‘upset and even offended’ after he was offered a ‘take it or leave it’ two-year contract.

There has been ‘no meaningful negotiation since then’ and Willian and his camp ‘felt that it was clear Chelsea didn’t really want him to stay’.
