Wilshere: Arsenal don’t need any new signings

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere says that the club do not need any new signings in January.
Arsene Wenger was roundly criticised for failing to recruit any outfield players last summer, but have so far been in fine form with key players staying fit.
With the club potentially fighting on four fronts, Wilshere insists that players returning from injury means that Arsenal again don’t need to spend any money in the transfer window.
Asked if Arsenal need to enter the market in January, Wilshere told Sky Sports’ Goals on Sunday programme:
“I don’t think so.
“Defensively we look good. We’ve got Gabriel who has really grown up. Last season, he was settling in. He is really suited to the Premier League.
“We’ve also got Calum Chambers, who if needed, is there. We’ve also got myself and Danny Welbeck who should be back round January and make the team stronger.”
The phrase “should be back around January” is the one that raises the doubts, Jack.
Wilshere also says Arsenal are sending out a message to the other teams in the Premier League with their form.
“The result against Bayern was important for us, but it was important that we continued on from that,” Wilshere said. “We saw the results earlier in the day and we knew if we won, we’d go top.
“In the past, when we’ve needed to win to send out a message, we haven’t. We’re starting to do it now.”
