Jack Wilshere has said that Dele Alli is a “top, top player” following the midfielder’s transfer from Tottenham to Everton.

The England international made the switch to Goodison Park on deadline day for a fee that could rise up to £40m.

The Toffees also brought in Manchester United outcast Donny van de Beek on loan until the end of the season.

New Everton manager Frank Lampard was a key factor in getting both Van de Beek and Alli through the door on Monday.

Alli has struggled at Spurs in recent seasons after an amazing start to life in north London back in 2015.

The 25-year-old was named Young Player of the Year in both 2015/16 and 16/17 after scoring 28 Premier League goals across both seasons.

This season, Alli has scored twice in 18 matches, but has been offered a fresh start at Everton.

And his former England team-mate Wilshere has heaped praise on the MK Dons youth product.

“For him, yeah, brilliant (move),” Wilshere said on talkSPORT (via HITC).

“I played with him. Top, top player. He has got everything. He can run behind, he is good on the ball, now he has got Frank Lampard.”

Meanwhile, Noel Whelan has backed Van de Beek to “explode” for Manchester United next season under Ralf Rangnick’s successor.

“Man United fans will be really disappointed to see him leave the club,” Whelan told Football Insider.

“However, it’s a really shrewd move from the club to allow him to leave but manage to resist sending him out on a loan-to-buy deal.

“I think he’s got a real future at Man United and could explode under whoever comes in to replace Rangnick.

“The time was right to get him out. Everton can give him those regular first-team minutes in the Premier League. I’m excited to see what he can do.”
