Jack Wilshere was pressed into saying that “maybe” he could return to the Arsenal first team to face Barcelona on March 16.
BT Sport presenter Jake Humphrey mentioned the Nou Camp date as a possible target and Wilshere – yet to play this season – said: “Maybe…three weeks. I hope so. Maybe.”
The Arsenal midfielder broke his leg before the start of the season and Arsene Wenger said on Friday that the English midfielder is “another three to four weeks” away.
Wilshere was at the Emirates as a guest of BT for the FA Cup clash with Hull City and said: “The problem’s been quite clear. I broke my leg in training the day before the charity shield, i didn’t think I’d need surgery but I did.
“I’m running. It gets harder and harder to get back into the Premier League.
“I think with me, all of my injuries have been impact injuries. My first was an ankle injury which took a while to heal so I think it’s just the way I play.”
Worryingly, Owen Hargreaves then chipped in to say: “I think my problems started with a broken leg as well and i started getting injuries off the back of it.
“Hopefully he can get back on the pitch because sadly I never did. You don’t realise it affects the biomechanics a little bit and you get new injuries you never got before. And then the doctors need to find a way to help out.”
