Wilshere reckons ‘brilliant’ Arnautovic is as good as Sanogo

Jack Wilshere says that Marko Arnautovic is “up there” as one of the best strikers he has ever played with. He must be a close second behind Yaya Sanogo.

Wilshere joined West Ham in the summer, 12 months after Arnautovic first stepped onto the London Stadium turf himself.

Since joining the Hammers from Stoke in 2017, the striker has scored or assisted 22 Premier League goals – at least 14 more than any other player.

He has suitably impressed Wilshere, who played with some of the best forwards over ten years in the Arsenal first team.

“Arnautovic is some player,” he said. “I’ve played with some strikers, great players and he is up there. He is right up there.

“Ability-wise he’s powerful, he’s got so much in his game. His attitude is brilliant. He’s a good character and is one of the leaders in the team as well.

“Before I went to West Ham I didn’t know know with him, but he’s been great from day one. He welcomed me in. He gives me a bit of stick but I can handle it.”
