Wright-Phillips believes Chelsea might fear Spurs

Shaun Wright-Phillips has warned that Chelsea “might get nervy” as Tottenham keep up their Premier League title chase.

Chelsea looked assured of claiming a second Premier League title in three years a matter of weeks ago, with 11 points separating them from their nearest challengers.

However, defeats to Crystal Palace and Manchester United in their last two games has left the Blues looking slightly more vulnerable.

Tottenham have taken full advantage, winning their last seven Premier League games in a row to close the gap to just four points with six games remaining.

Wright-Phillips, who won one Premier League title in three years at Stamford Bridge, believes the pressure could get to Antonio Conte’s players.

“In a Premier League title race it’s never over until it’s over”.

“At one stage it was an 11-point gap and now it’s down to four points so that is nerve-wracking for the players. As we would say, it’s ‘squeaky bum time’.

“It could be that they’re on a downward spiral. As big as the characters are in that dressing room I still think there will be a spell where they might get nervy if Tottenham keep going as they are.”
