Xhaka describes his perfect position: ‘Fake No. 10’

Granit Xhaka has described himself as a “fake No. 10”, which is frankly something he appears to have invented himself.

The Swiss midfielder divides the Arsenal supporters but it seems that he has not been playing in his preferred position, with Arsene Wenger playing him in central midfield alongside Aaron Ramsey in a 3-4-3.

“I’d actually describe myself as a fake No10 – in other words, a No10 that plays further back,” Xhaka tells The Guardian.

“But I do think I’m a two-sided player. I am very confident that I have certain skills in world football but I am also a dedicated fighter.”

Xhaka also spoke about his reputation as a dirty player, culminating in two red cards in his short Arsenal career.

“I thought football in England was supposed to be a lot tougher,” says Xhaka.

“I accept the Burnley decision but not Swansea. I was more surprised than angry at first. I’ve always watched the Premier League and I think a lot of fouls that are whistled for today were not given in the past.”
