Wilfried Zaha has accused West Ham fans of “trying to make up” a claim that he spat at Declan Rice.
Zaha featured for Crystal Palace as they continued their shock start to the season with a dramatic 2-1 win over West Ham on Saturday.
Jordan Ayew scored the decisive three minutes from full-time, with VAR eventually adjudging the forward to have been onside when he converted Martin Kelly’s cross.
Zaha was again not at his best, with West Ham supporters believing his most notable contribution came when he supposedly spat in the direction of Declan Rice.
A video, with all context stripped completely and Rice not even in view, circulated on social media with West Ham fans definitely not bitter about losing and suggesting he should be punished.
“Let me clear up something that the West Ham fans are trying to make up,” he said.
“On your own video, you can see that Declan runs in front of me and I spit to the right.
“So please don’t make up lies that I spat at someone. I have never done it and I never will.
“So please, let’s just accept that we won the game and move on.”
