Galatasaray boss Okan Buruk did not rule out a summer transfer for Nicolo Zaniolo with Aston Villa ‘closing in’ on the signing.
Fabrizio Romano reported last week that Zaniolo is a “concrete” target for the Villans.
The Italian international only joined Galatasaray from AS Roma in January but is already being linked with an exit.
He made 128 appearances in four-and-a-half years with the Serie A giants, winning the maiden Europa Conference League in 2022.
Speaking last Friday, Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery confirmed he is interested in signing the attacker from Galatasaray.
“Zaniolo is not a striker. He is versatile. He can play as a No. 7 or No. 10 and he’s one of those we have on the list, with the qualities he has, to help us. He’s on our list and there are others,” Emery said (quotes via Tuttomercatoweb).
And Galatasaray head coach Buruk has said every player has their price, even if Zaniolo is one of his most important players.
“Many of our players have been targeted,” Buruk said. “Nicolo is one of them. If there are suitable conditions for the club (to sell), the club will evaluate it.
“I am focused on my job. We are trying to do the best with the players who are fighting on the field rather than going.”
Villa are edging closer to the signing of the 24-year-old, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Writing on Twitter on Monday evening, Romano said it will be a “here we go soon”.
The Premier League club are close to an agreement over a season-long loan deal. The transfer will include a €4million (£3.4million) loan fee with the player’s complete salary covered.
Villa will have a buy option worth €22m (£18.9m) that could potentially rise to €27m (£23.2m) with add-ons included.
Meanwhile, Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla reckons a ‘green light’ from Gala will come on Monday night or Tuesday.
Another player Emery is hoping to bring to Villa Park is Sevilla left-back Marcos Acuna, according to Relevo journalist Matteo Moretto.
It is claimed that ‘all parties’ are in ‘contact’ over the signing of the Argentine World Cup winner.
