Michael Owen reacts to Man Utd 4-4 Aston Villa and makes Michael Carrick sack prediction – ‘next couple of days’
Michael Owen has given his verdict on whether or not Manchester United co-owners INEOS will sack Michael Carrick as the first-team manager after the match against Aston Villa at Old Trafford.
Man Utd played out a thrilling 4-4 draw with Villa at home in the Premier League on Sunday evening.
Villa were 2-0 up against Man Utd after just four minutes, but Carrick’s side came back to end the first half 2-2.
Unai Emery’s team, though, went 4-2 ahead after just eight minutes of the second half.
However, Man Utd launched a late fightback and scored twice in injury time to claim a point from the encounter.
Man Utd, though, are now third from bottom in the Premier League table.

Under manager Carrick this season, the Red Devils have picked up only eight points from 10 matches.
We now head into the international break, and former Man Utd striker Owen believes that the Red Devils’ co-owners, INEOS, will make a decision on Carrick’s future in the next two days.
Michael Owen gives Michael Carrick sack verdict
Owen said on Premier League Productions about Carrick: “Going into the international break in the relegation zone just doesn’t have a good ring to it, does it?
“If Man Utd were looking, searching, testing the market for a new manager in recent times, some would say this is the time to do it.
“I think the next couple of days are going to be pivotal. But what we can’t deny is that Michael Carrick has gotten a tune out of these players in the last couple of days.
“They’re fighting for him, they’re absolutely fighting for him.
“The fans are behind him, the players certainly played until the last second, if he’s going out, he’s going out on his sword.”
Owen added: “If you take the bulk of Michael Carrick’s work [since his Man Utd interim appointment], it’s better than most recent managers, if you take the whole lot.
“I think this is a better team that he, or the club, has constructed over recent times.
“There’s certainly fight there, there’s certainly love for him from the terraces, the crowd are with him. They’re coming back from 2-0 down on a regular basis, there’s a lot to be said for that.
“He’s not lost the dressing room – a phrase that people like to use.”
Everton defender James Tarkowski said: “There’s definitely two ways of looking at it.
“They’ve sort of self-destructed at the start of both halves, and midweek, gifted goals away.
“To concede four at home will really hurt, but then, character, commitment, playing for the manager, to score a goal that late in the game when it looked dead and buried at one point, they are fighting for him.”
Matheus Cunha reacts to Man Utd 4-4 Aston Villa
Man Utd forward Matheus Cunha has expressed his disappointment at not winning against Villa.
Cunha told Sky Sports: “So disappointed, after the other night we talked a lot about how not to concede goals and then change our mentality to come again.
“We did it again, conceded goals. We can’t do that – we need to play like Man Utd and go forward and create chances, play with more courage.
“After we concede goals we show character but if we do this before we can win much more games.”
When asked about Man Utd are conceding goals so early, Cunha said: “I don’t know – everyone tries to get answers for that. We want to be the best and show that we can come back. We need to show the mentality to do this from the start.”
