PSG star grows tired of Liverpool transfer saga and reaches fresh decision on future

Liverpool transfer targets Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye

Both Ibrahim Mbaye and Bradley Barcola ‘feel that their respective transfer saga has dragged on for long now’ as Liverpool continue talks with Paris Saint-Germain.

Liverpool are concentrating their recruitment efforts on new wingers ahead of the summer transfer deadline after losing Mohamed Salah, who joined Trabzonspor recently.

The Reds have already brought in Victor Munoz from Osasuna and now it looks like they are closing in on a deal to sign Yankuba Minteh from Brighton.

Gambian journalist Foday Manneh reported on Friday that Liverpool have had a second bid for Minteh turned down but that both clubs are hopeful of striking a deal.

Manneh wrote on X: ‘BREAKING Yankuba Minteh to Liverpool FC; a second bid rejected by Brighton from #LFC for the Gambian winger after a £50M opening offer turned down, I can exclusively confirm today. The two clubs are hopeful about agreeing and continue talks.’

Well-known transfer insider Fabrizio Romano later backed up Manneh’s information and added that Minteh and Liverpool have a ‘broad verbal agreement’ over personal terms.

Romano said on X: ‘Liverpool and Yankuba Minteh have a broad verbal agreement on contract terms as the player said yes to #LFC project. Brighton rejected £60m bid sent today but talks continue, as @foday_manneh_ reported.’

Could Mbaye now consider other options over Liverpool?

There is a feeling that any deal for Minteh could impact Liverpool’s potential pursuit of Mbaye and French newspaper L’Equipe (via Get French Football News) insists that the slow pace of a deal is making the PSG star change his stance on a move.

Mbaye could consider a move to other clubs if a potential move to Liverpool drags on much longer after the Reds baulked at PSG’s asking price for the winger.

The report claims: ‘L’Equipe understands that both Mbaye and Bradley Barcola – who is also targeted by Liverpool – feel that their respective transfer saga has dragged on for long now. The two wingers are not expected to be part of Luis Enrique’s travelling squad for their Ligue 1 opener against Rennes.

‘Negotiations are said to be progressing slowly between PSG and Liverpool for the France international, but they are much slower for his Senegalese teammate. The outlet adds that Mbaye could even turn to another club with only ten days remaining in this summer’s transfer window.’

The same report insists that RMC Sport have revealed that Liverpool and PSG are €20m apart in their valuation of Mbaye with the Parisiens demanding €70m – but the Reds only want to pay €50m.
