Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti insists his team still have much to improve on despite convincingly beating West Brom.

At the end of a hectic first-half, the Toffees led 2-1 but West Brom opened the scoring in the 10th minute.

An excellent long-range strike from Grady Diangana gave them the lead before Dominic Calvert-Lewin equalised with a cute backheel from close range.

Winners & Losers: Early winners: Everton’s truly electric front three…

Everton snatched the lead before half time through James Rodriguez. The Premier League new boy finished well into the bottom corner from the edge of the penalty area.

Just before the break, Kieron Gibbs was shown a straight red card for raising his hands to Rodriguez. In the aftermath, Slaven Bilic was also given a red card for his furious reaction to the sending off.

The Baggies hit back straight after the break with a brilliant free-kick from Matheu Pereira. But Everton took control shortly after, scoring three times in just 12 minutes to secure all three points.

Michael Keane scored from close range to regain Everton the lead before Calvert-Lewin scored twice more to round off a fine hat-trick.

Ancelotti’s side continue their perfect start to the season with this win, but he told BT Sport that still wants more from his side:

“I think the result doesn’t reflect what happened on the pitch, in the first half they were better than us. But we had a good reaction after the sending off.

“I have seen more ambition, more focus this season. But we have to pay attention because every game will be difficult. If you look inside the performance, there are a lot of points we can do better.”

Ancelotti also took time to hail the impact of Richarlison and Columbian star Rodriguez:

“Dominic scored the goals but Richarlison played really well, too. In front, we played really well, but at the back we have to be better.

“James makes football easy. He has started really well. I am really happy for this. He has such a fantastic desire to play football and he is really happy with us.”

Next up for Everton is Fleetwood Town in the Carabao Cup Third Round on Wednesday, before they travel to face Crystal Palace on Saturday.
