Gossip: Salah opens door to Barca, Madrid transfer
Salah flirts with Barcelona and Real Madrid while four fancy Leicester outcast Gray.
SAYONARA SALAH?
“I think Madrid and Barcelona are two top clubs,” Mohamed Salah told AS. “Who knows what will happen in the future, but right now I am focused on winning the Premier League and the Champions League with Liverpool again.”
Salah is not about to leave Liverpool. As he said he’s focussed on winning more titles on Merseyside. But why even mention Barcelona and Real Madrid? If this was Paul Pogba it would be another clear sign of his disrespect.
And what is it with players still desperate to move to Barcelona or Real Madrid? It’s no longer a step up from Liverpool – it’s a significant step down.
When pressed further on his future, Salah added: ‘That’s a tough question, but right now I can say that everything is in the hands of the club.”
They’re similar comments to those of Georginio Wijnaldum, who has also been linked with a move to La Liga. Genuine interest in a move or gunning for a new contract? Probably, hopefully the latter.
GOING GRAY
Brendan Rodgers has told Demarai Gray he’s surplus to requirements at Leicester: he doesn’t fancy him.
His only action this season has been in the League Cup or with the Under-23 squad in Premier League 2 and he is out of contract in June.
This means January is the last chance for Leicester to command even a nominal fee for the 24-year-old before he is released as a free agent at the end of the season.
Despite his lack of action, Tottenham, Everton, Southampton and Crystal Palace are all thought to be interested in Gray.
Leicster are reportedly looking at Celtic’s Ryan Christie or Reading’s young talent Michael Olise as a replacement.
Rodgers worked with Christie during his time at Parkhead and the Leicester boss is thought to be a big admirer.
And Olise has come to the fore for Reading in the Championship this season, but it is thought he will command a fee of around £30million should the Foxes want to complete the deal in January.
