Benzema told teammate ‘not to pass’ to Vinicius Jr
Karim Benzema has been caught criticising Real Madrid teammate Vinicius Jr during their draw to Borrusia Monchengladbach.
Real Madrid have made an awful start to the new Champions League campaign. In their Group B opener against Shaktar Donetsk last week, they fell to a 3-2 defeat.
The Spanish giants were 3-0 down at the break, but they could not complete a second half fightback. On Tuesday, they faced Monchengladbach in their second group game.
WINNERS & LOSERS: Early loser: Real Madrid, somehow getting away with it
Madrid again fell behind and were 2-0 down by the 58th minute. Zinedine Zidane’s side had to rely on late goals from Benzema and Casemiro to snatch a draw.
They were very fortunate to get a point, as Casemiro scored in the 93rd minute to get them off the mark in their Champions League campaign.
Madrid were 1-0 down at the break, and as Benzema was walking down the tunnel, he was heard telling Ferland Mendy:
“Brother don’t play to him. On my mother’s life. He is playing against us.”
Opta have released their stats from the game and it reveals that Benzema did not pass to Vinicius once in the first half.
Real Madrid beat Barcelona 3-1 in the El Classico at the weekend. Despite this, reports are growing that their changing room is divided.
Isco recently publicly criticised Zidane in an interview with Movistar, which has been cited by Goal:
“If he has to take me off, he takes me off in the 50th or 60th minute of the game. Sometimes even at half-time. If he has to put me on, he’ll do it in the 80th minute.”
So Patrick Bamford got us thinking about absolutely random Premier League hat-trick goalscorers. Justice for “busy” Kevin Lisbie.
